Pattern, layers and repetition are themes that Rebecca commonly explores in her artistic practice. Rebecca’s workshop will show you how to start with a simple, gestural pattern for the basis of your painting, a reference to the tiles you see covering buildings in Lisbon. Then, in the spaces between the tiles, we will draw imaginary plants and flowers coming through the cracks. The final step will be to add thin transparent colour as well as thick areas of paint that can be scratched back to the initial layer, to show the variety of marks and textures possible in painting. MATERIALS LIST: • Paper for Acrylic Painting • Tape (to hold the paper down, optional) • Brushes • Acrylic Paint • Acrylic Ink (optional) • Pouring Medium (or water if no medium is available) • Kitchen roll • Bowls for water to rinse your brush
