Make Your Mark worked with the Education and Training Department in 2015 to plan the collaborative art project “What Makes Your Heart Sing?” The project took as its starting point the question ‘What inspires you?’ or ‘What makes your heart sing?
We invited service users, staff and carers to bring objects, for example a memento, a treasured object, something they’d collected or found, a photograph, a letter or a newspaper clipping, and to tell the story about why it inspired them. Participants were invited to photograph their object and were led through a series of creative drawing tasks in response to the object. The project involved over 50 participants and was facilitated by artist Annis Joslin. She gathered and digitally processed all the material created during the workshops to create a series of images. Images from the collection are on permanent exhibition within the Trust. They have also been exhibited in collaboration with South Downs Leisure to celebrate mental health awareness week. |
